During the lock-down in The Netherlands of 2020 and 2021, most shops were closed. Fortunately, not the flower shops. They can still sell flowers outside the store.

Since I'm working as a florist, I volunteered to make video art for the shopping window of the store I work at.

The top video played during the Christmas period and the one below will play during Valentine's day.

The purpose of the videos is to keep the spirit of the people in Haarlem up; so they have something to look at and get exciting about, as the rest of the stores are still closed.

It is also a way for me, as a recently graduated artist to create and show video work. Since all my upcoming exhibitions are postponed or canceled.

The material of the first video is constructed out of stock footage and archive-material of videos from the 1920s/30s/40s (most of these are provided by the Prelinger Archives).

The Valentine's day video is constructed out of famous scenes in movies that feature florists and their shops.
