Zevenenvijftig’ is a three part photo series, that connects to a bigger collection of works called: ‘Fuck. Volgens mij doe ik rouw verkeerd.’ With this works: the artist showcases an awkward and intimate take on bereavement at a young age.
This body of work is a reflection on a previous work of Madelief van de Beek called: ‘fuck. volgens mij doe ik feminisme verkeerd.’
Madelief van de Beek made the sand sculpture with sand of her mother’s grave. She created the work in the same week of her mother’s birthday. Her mother would have turned 59, but died on age 57.
